Privacy Policy

Effective as of February 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how FlowLawyers (“FlowLawyers,” “we,” “us” or “our”) processes information about you through our website, services, and other activities described in this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Service”).

FlowLawyers operates as an attorney advertising and marketing platform. We maintain attorney and firm marketing pages, create and manage advertising campaigns (including Google Ads) on behalf of participating attorneys, and collect information about your legal needs to share with attorneys in our network. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

Information we collect about you

Information you provide to us. You may directly provide us with information, including:

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  • Location data, such as your ZIP code, state, and city, used to show you attorneys in your area.
  • Case information, such as legal issue details, incident descriptions, timeline information, and other details about your legal matter.
  • Communication preferences, such as preferred contact methods and times.
  • Verification data, such as information used to verify your identity for privacy requests.

Automatic data collection. We and our service providers may automatically collect information, including:

  • Device and technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and operating system.
  • Usage data, such as pages visited, time spent, navigation patterns, and referral sources.
  • Analytics data, such as website performance metrics, user interactions, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) event tracking, and conversion tracking for managed Google Ads campaigns.
  • Advertising data, such as ad click identifiers (Google Click ID / GCLID), campaign attribution parameters, landing page URLs, and referral sources from Google Ads and other advertising platforms.
  • Cookie data, such as preferences, session information, and advertising identifiers.

How we use your information

Service delivery. We use your information to:

  • Show you attorneys in our network based on your legal needs and location
  • Enable communication between you and attorneys in our network
  • Process and respond to your inquiries and requests
  • Improve our directory and service quality

Communications and marketing. We use your information to:

  • Respond to questions and follow up on inquiries you submit through the directory
  • Facilitate communications related to your request for attorney contact
  • Improve our directory experience, intake flow, and service quality
  • Send additional communications only where you request them or where permitted by applicable law

Legal and compliance. We use your information to:

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats
  • Enforce our terms of service and other agreements
  • Respond to legal requests and court orders

How we share your information

With attorneys in our network. We share your case information with attorneys in our network who handle your type of case in your area. This sharing is essential to our directory services. Depending on how you use the directory, your information may be sent to the specific attorney or firm you contact, or routed to an attorney whose practice matches your request.

With service providers. We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our services, including:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — backend infrastructure, databases, and data processing
  • Vercel — frontend web hosting and content delivery
  • Google — advertising platforms (Google Ads), analytics (GA4), and conversion tracking

With advertising platforms. When you arrive at our website through a Google Ads campaign managed on behalf of an attorney, Google may receive conversion data (that you visited the page or submitted an intake form) for campaign optimization. This data is processed under Google's privacy policies and does not include the substance of your legal matter.

For legal purposes. We may disclose your information when required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.

Regarding data sales. FlowLawyers does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose personal information to attorneys, service providers, or partners as necessary to operate our services, including helping connect consumers with attorneys. See our “Do not sell my personal information” section below for more details.

Advertising and conversion tracking

FlowLawyers creates and manages Google Ads campaigns on behalf of participating attorneys. When you click on one of these ads and visit our website, the following data processing occurs:

  • Click tracking — Google assigns a click identifier (GCLID) that allows us to attribute your visit to a specific advertising campaign. This helps attorneys measure advertising effectiveness.
  • Conversion tracking — If you submit an intake form after clicking an ad, we report this conversion event to Google Ads (without sharing the substance of your legal matter) so the attorney can measure campaign performance.
  • Analytics — We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand website usage patterns, traffic sources, and user interactions. GA4 data is used for service improvement and advertising optimization.
  • Remarketing — If we use remarketing or audience-based advertising features in the future, you will be able to manage certain advertising preferences through tools such as Google Ads Settings, and applicable opt-out rights will continue to apply.

We do not share the specific details of your legal matter, case description, or intake form responses with Google or any advertising platform. Only aggregate conversion events (e.g., “a form was submitted”) are reported for campaign optimization.

Pro bono intake data

When you submit a pro bono intake form, we collect additional information to facilitate your request for free legal services:

  • Household information — household size and income bracket (e.g., “below 200% FPL”), used to help assess potential eligibility for pro bono services
  • Legal issue details — description of your legal matter and practice area, shared with the attorney you select
  • Contact information — name, email, and phone number, shared with the attorney you select so they can contact you

Your pro bono intake data is shared only with the attorney you select from the pro bono directory. We never assign you to an attorney — you always choose. Pro bono intake data is never sold to third parties and is never used for paid advertising purposes.

Pro bono intake data is retained in accordance with our standard data retention practices described in the Data retention section below.

Income data collection

Our pro bono intake process may collect income information to help determine potential eligibility for free legal services. We handle this data with heightened care:

  • Bracket, not exact figure — we collect your income bracket (e.g., “below 125% FPL,” “125–200% FPL”), not your exact income amount
  • Client-side calculation — the Federal Poverty Level eligibility calculation is performed entirely in your browser. Your exact income figure is never transmitted to our servers
  • Never used for advertising — income bracket data is never used for advertising targeting, profiling, or marketing purposes
  • Not shared beyond the selected attorney — income bracket data is included with your pro bono intake submission and shared only with the attorney you select
  • Self-reported — income information is provided by you and is not verified by FlowLawyers

AI chatbot data

If we make an AI chatbot feature available, we may process conversation data as follows:

  • Third-party AI processing — chatbot conversations are processed by third-party artificial intelligence providers to generate responses. These providers process your messages under their data processing agreements with us and do not use your conversations to train their models
  • 90-day log retention — chatbot conversation logs (your messages and AI responses) are retained for 90 days for quality assurance and compliance monitoring, then permanently deleted
  • Not shared with attorneys — chatbot conversation data is not shared with attorneys in our network. If you want to share details of your legal matter with an attorney, use our intake forms or contact the attorney directly
  • No advertising use — chatbot conversation data is not used for advertising, profiling, or marketing purposes

The chatbot is an AI assistant that provides general information only. It does not provide legal advice and no attorney-client relationship is created through chatbot interactions. See our Terms of Service for additional chatbot disclaimers.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to access — request access to your personal information and a copy of the data we hold about you.

If you wish to exercise applicable opt-out rights, you may do so through our Consumer Privacy Rights page or by contacting privacy@flowlawyers.com.

Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, regular security assessments, and incident response procedures.

While we strive to protect your information, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Data retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Lead information: up to 7 years for legal and business purposes
  • Communication records: up to 3 years unless legally required longer
  • Advertising records: ad copy, landing page snapshots, and campaign data are retained for 4 years after an ad stops serving, in compliance with state attorney advertising record-keeping requirements
  • Website analytics: aggregated and anonymized after 26 months
  • Marketing data: retained until you opt out or request deletion

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience and analyze usage:

  • Essential cookies — required for website functionality and security.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand website usage and improve our services.
  • Marketing cookies — may be used for advertising, attribution, and remarketing, subject to applicable law and your browser or ad-platform privacy settings.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. You may also manage certain advertising preferences through tools such as Google Ads Settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect website functionality.

Attorney directory information

FlowLawyers maintains a directory of attorneys licensed to practice law in the United States. This directory may include attorneys who are not current customers or users of our platform.

For attorneys who have not claimed their listing, we display only publicly available information sourced from state bar association records, court records, and publicly accessible legal directories. This includes the attorney's name, firm name, city, state, practice areas, and state(s) of bar admission. We do not display private contact information for unclaimed listings.

We do not attribute ratings, reviews, badges, certifications, or other performance metrics to attorneys who have not provided such information through our platform. Information displayed for unclaimed listings is limited to publicly available data as described above.

The inclusion of an attorney in our directory does not indicate any business relationship, endorsement, or affiliation between the listed attorney and FlowLawyers. Unclaimed listings are clearly distinguished from claimed listings in our directory.

Attorneys may request removal of their unclaimed listing or correction of inaccurate information by contacting privacy@flowlawyers.com. We will process removal requests within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506, “COPPA”). If we become aware of such collection, we will delete it promptly.

Because our services involve legal matters requiring the capacity to enter into contracts, users must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in their state of residence) to use our platform. Minors seeking legal assistance should have a parent or legal guardian submit inquiries on their behalf.

State-specific privacy rights

Residents of certain states have additional privacy rights under state law. We maintain state-specific privacy pages for jurisdictions with live comprehensive privacy laws, and additional state-specific pages across our consumer legal library.

Additional state-specific privacy policies are also available across our published consumer legal states, including:

Minnesota, Colorado, Texas, Florida, California, Nevada, North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Maryland, Kentucky, Oregon, Connecticut, Iowa, Utah, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website. Your continued use of our services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
