Idaho does not issue driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, does not have sanctuary policies, and has enacted legislation requiring cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. Recent legislation has moved toward mandatory E-Verify for employers.

Idaho requires proof of lawful presence in the United States to obtain a driver's license or identification card. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for Idaho driver's licenses.
Idaho has introduced legislation to require all employers to use the E-Verify system to confirm employment eligibility of new hires, with an anticipated effective date of January 1, 2027. This builds on existing requirements for state contractors.
