Workers' Compensation Laws in Indiana.
Indiana workers' compensation covers virtually all employers (no minimum employee threshold, with limited exceptions). TTD benefits pay 66 2/3% of average weekly wages with a maximum of $852/week (July 2025-June 2026). Indiana uses a unique degree-of-impairment rating system for permanent partial disability, with rates that increase at higher impairment levels. The employer has the right to choose the initial treating physician.

Workers' compensation claims must be filed with the Worker's Compensation Board within 2 years of the date of injury.
Exceptions
The injured worker must notify the employer within 30 days of injury. Failure is not an absolute bar if the employer was not prejudiced by the delay.

PPD is based on a degree-of-impairment rating. Rates increase at higher levels: 1-10 degrees: $1,913/degree; 11-35: $2,133; 36-50: $3,481; above 50: $4,436 (July 2025-June 2026). If TTD was paid for more than 125 weeks, the excess is deducted from PPD.
The employer has the right to select the treating physician for the initial visit. The employee may change physicians under certain circumstances.
