Workers' Compensation Laws in New Jersey.

New Jersey requires all employers with at least one employee to carry workers' compensation insurance. The TTD benefit rate is 70% of average weekly wages — one of the highest rates in the nation. Claims must be filed within 2 years of the accident. Medical treatment has no dollar cap or time limit.

Injuries should be reported to the employer within 90 days (immediate reporting advised). Claim petitions must be filed within 2 years of the accident date or 2 years from the last payment of compensation/medical benefits. Occupational diseases: 2 years from when the worker knew or should have known the condition was work-related.
