Domestic Violence Laws in Maryland.
Maryland domestic-violence protection is governed primarily by Fam. Law §§ 4-501 et seq., which authorizes Protective Orders from the District or Circuit Courts for victims of domestic violence. Maryland also provides Peace Orders under Cts. & Jud. Proc. § 3-1501 et seq. for victims of other types of abuse not covered by the domestic-violence framework.

Maryland law authorizes interim, temporary, and final Protective Orders for victims of domestic abuse, with stay-away and related protective provisions.
Peace Orders provide similar protective relief for victims of abuse outside qualifying domestic relationships (dating violence, stalking, etc.).
