Domestic Abuse Criminal OffenseSDCL § 22-18-1 et seq. (Simple Assault); § 25-10-1

Assault against a household member is a Class 1 misdemeanor. Third offense within 10 years or assault with a deadly weapon against household member escalates to felony.

StalkingSDCL § 22-19A

Stalking is a Class 1 misdemeanor (first offense) or Class 6 felony (second offense or aggravated).

Crime Victims CompensationSDCL Chapter 23A-28B

Reimburses victims for medical, counseling, and economic losses. Application within 1 year of crime.
