Oklahoma law
Environmental Laws in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma environmental law combines federal programs (RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, CAA) with state implementation through the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Oklahoma's environmental practice is dominated by oil-and-gas regulation under the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (Oil and Gas Conservation Division) — given the state's major oil-and-gas production. Induced seismicity from wastewater injection has been a significant regulatory and litigation issue in recent years. The Oklahoma Water Resources Board administers water rights under prior-appropriation-modified-by-reasonable-use.
