Social Security Disability Laws in Vermont.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are federal programs administered by the Social Security Administration under the Social Security Act. Vermont state law does not change eligibility, benefit amounts, or the adjudication process. Initial disability determinations for Vermont claimants are made by the Vermont Disability Determination Services (DDS) under contract with SSA. Hearing-level appeals are conducted by SSA Administrative Law Judges, with further review at the SSA Appeals Council and then to U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont.
