Veterans benefits are predominantly federal, administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. New Jersey supplements federal benefits through the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, which operates three State Veterans Memorial Homes (Menlo Park, Paramus, Vineland), a state veterans cemetery, and county Veterans Service Officers. New Jersey offers a 100% service-connected disabled veterans' total property-tax exemption and a $6,000 state income tax deduction for veterans. VA regional offices serve New Jersey from Newark and Philadelphia.

Monthly compensation for service-connected disabilities, rated 10–100%. No income limit.
Veterans with 100% service-connected total and permanent disability (or unmarried surviving spouses) are fully exempt from property tax on their primary residence.
Honorably discharged veterans receive a $6,000 New Jersey Gross Income Tax deduction (applies to any veteran, not just disabled).
Administers three Memorial Homes (Menlo Park, Paramus, Vineland), Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, and a network of county Veterans Service Officers.
